    General guidelines for Stafford loans (other loans types may have different terms):
    1. The maximum standard repayment term for a Stafford loan is 10 years (120 months).
    2. The maximum interest rate for a Stafford loan is 8.25%.
    3. The current interest rate is a fixed rate of 6.8% (for loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2006)
    4. The minimum monthly payment for a Stafford loan is $50.
